The SuperAdmin role is reserved and fixed, so nobody can edit it, and the app refuses to delete system roles. This is by design. To give someone different access, create a custom role with the keys they need and assign that.
Why this happens
The API Reference describes three rules for roles. Creating a role keeps the SuperAdmin name reserved. Updating a role treats SuperAdmin as immutable. Deleting a role refuses system roles. SuperAdmin is the top role, so the app keeps it fixed. A change to it would touch every admin account at once, and that is a risk worth blocking. If a job needs a little less than full admin power, a custom role built for that job is cleaner and safer than any change to the top role.
How to fix it
- Accept that SuperAdmin stays as it is. No setting lifts the block.
- Open Administration from the sidebar. Only admins see it.
- Create a custom role. Name it for the job, for example "Pro Dev", and add only the permission keys that job needs. Read which permissions a custom role can hold for the list.
- Assign the new role to the people who should have it, and take the old one away where you can.
Changing roles needs the role:manage permission. If you can edit custom roles in general but not this one, SuperAdmin is the reason.
Still not working?
- Cannot edit a custom role either? Your own role probably lacks
role:manage. Ask an admin. - Trying to remove a user and not a role? Read why the base admin account stays.
- For the built-in set, see the built-in roles.
Tell us what you tried on the contact page and we will look at it with you. Include the role name and what the app showed when you clicked.
