How do I remove a login role from a profile?
Edit the profile, open Authentication, click the trash icon on the role card, and then click Save. The role and its stored credentials go. With no roles left, scans from that profile run without a login, and later scans lose any page that needed the role.
Steps
- Choose Edit on the profile and open Authentication.
- Find the role card. Its top row shows the role name, a privilege badge, a method badge and a trash icon.
- Click the trash icon to remove the role.
- Press Save to confirm the change.
Good to know
- Delete all the roles and the section shows No auth roles. Add a role to scan behind login, or leave empty for unauthenticated scanning. Scans from the profile then run without a login.
- Only drop a role you no longer use. Later scans lose the pages that role could reach.
- Removing a role takes its stored credentials with it.
Prefer to keep the role but drop one piece? Clear the form credentials with Clear, delete a header row with its trash icon, or untick a method. See clearing stored credentials and removing a header.
Think before you delete. A role often took time to set up, with a test account, a login flow and a success check. If you may need it again, keep it and untick its method instead. That way the setup stays one click away.
Past scans keep what they found. The change affects scans you start after saving.
Short answer: it is quick. Longer answer: plan for the pages that role could reach, because later scans will not see them any more.
If you removed a role by mistake and have not saved yet, press Cancel in the top-right corner to leave without keeping the change. Otherwise, add the role again with + Add role. You will need to retype its secrets.
Need only a short break from a role, such as while you rebuild its test account, untick its method for now and tick it again later. Easy.
