Results & findings

Will a finding I marked as a false positive come back on the next scan?

Quick answer

Your choices are kept. Issues persist per target across scans, and the documentation says future scans respect your dispositions. A fixed issue that reappears becomes a Regression, not a fresh finding. The docs do not describe extra rules for false positives.

The short version

A new scan does not wipe your triage work. Findings belong to the target, not to a single scan, so your disposition, assignee and notes stay with the finding.

How it works in Cyberlop

The in-app documentation says your dispositions carry across future scans. It gives one example: a fixed issue that reappears becomes a regression, not a fresh finding.

You setOn the next scan
FixedStays fixed if not detected. Becomes a Regression if detected again.
False PositiveYour disposition is respected. The documentation gives no further detail.
Accepted RiskYour disposition is respected. The documentation gives no further detail.

Deleting a scan keeps the target's findings. Deleting the target removes its findings along with the profiles, schedules and scans.

Cyberlop merges findings that describe the same weakness into one, so a repeat of the same issue does not appear as a pile of copies.

What to do next

After the next scan, check the result. Open Issues, use the triage chips and search for the title. If a finding you closed looks open again, open it and read its notes and the Diff tab of the scan.

If code changed enough to alter the finding, review it again and update the note. Read how to mark a false positive, why a fixed finding is a regression and the triage states. For anything the docs do not cover, ask at /contact. The glossary entry false positive adds background.

Because the history lives on the target, you can look back at any time and see how a finding moved from New to Fixed and what was said along the way, which is exactly what a review needs. Nothing starts from zero.
