How do I change a stored password on a role?
Edit the profile, open the role in Authentication, type the new password in the Password field (re-entering the username too, since both show blank), and click Save. Fields you leave blank keep their saved values.
Steps
- Open Scan Profiles in the sidebar and click Edit on the profile.
- Choose Authentication and find the role card.
- In the form login block, type the new value into Password. Retype the Username too, since stored values show blank on edit.
- Press Save.
Good to know
A stored role shows the notice Form credentials stored — leave fields blank to keep it. The fields look empty because Cyberlop never displays a stored secret. Empty does not mean lost.
- Fill in a field and the new value replaces the old one when you save.
- Leave a field blank and the saved value stays. The API behaves the same way, since it keeps blank secret fields.
- Change the password on your own app first, so the scanner does not sign in with a stale one.
Want to wipe the saved credentials rather than swap them? Use the Clear button. See how to clear stored form credentials.
Do this soon after any password rotation on your app. A stale password in the role is one of the quickest ways to get a scan that signs in to nothing. A short note in your change checklist avoids it.
After the save, run a short scan to confirm that the sign-in works with the new password. If the scan cannot sign in, check the login URL and success condition first, and then the username you retyped.
The profile's target cannot change on edit, but everything else on the role can. Questions about a field? Try /contact.
