How do I compare a scan with the previous one?
Open the scan from Recent Scans and choose the Diff tab. It compares the scan with the previous completed scan of the same target and shows three columns: New, Fixed and Regressed. A first scan shows No previous scan to compare against.
The Diff tab answers one question: what changed since last time?
Steps
- Click Recent Scans and open the scan you want to check.
- Choose the Diff tab. The heading reads Compared to previous completed scan.
- Read the three columns.
- If a column is long, look for the note such as +46 more.
Good to know
What each column holds:
| Column | Findings that are |
|---|---|
| New | Not present in the previous scan |
| Fixed | Present before, not found now |
| Regressed | Fixed earlier, found again now |
Each entry shows a severity badge and a title. When a column holds many items, only the first few are listed, followed by a count like +46 more. Use Issues with the triage chips to see the full set. Read what the +N more count means.
The baseline is always the previous completed scan. Failed or cancelled runs are skipped. The first scan of a profile has nothing to compare with, so the tab says No previous scan to compare against.
Compare scans of the same target, ideally with the same profile. A different profile covers different ground, so differences may come from settings, not code. See how the diff baseline is chosen.
The compare scans tutorial walks through a full example.
The diff is the quickest way to report progress to someone who was not there, because three counts and a short list say more than a long table of every finding the target has ever had. Share the page. Keep it brief.
