Troubleshooting

I'm locked out after several failed sign-in attempts. What happened?

Quick answer

Cyberlop rate-limits failed sign-ins per client and per username, and the lockout grows with repeated failures. Stop retrying, wait for the lockout to clear, then try once with the correct details. If you stay locked out, ask your workspace administrator.

Why this happens

The login route is brute-force throttled. The Security page says Cyberlop limits failed logins per client and per username, with an escalating lockout. That protects your account from someone guessing passwords, and it applies to you as well. The pages we captured do not state the exact wait, so do not rely on a fixed number.

How to fix it

  1. Stop trying. Each extra failed attempt can push the lockout out further.
  2. Wait a while before the next try. Come back after a break rather than after a minute.
  3. Check the details by looking at the username, caps lock, the keyboard layout and any autofill that may hold an old password.
  4. Try once. When it works, update your password manager.
  5. When you do not remember the password, ask your workspace administrator for help. They manage users in Administration.

Still not working?

Check whether your workspace uses single sign-on. If it does, use the SSO button on the sign-in page and not a password. The limit also covers the client, so a shared office network with many failures can slow down as a whole.

After a long wait, if you still cannot sign in, tell your administrator or write to us with the time of your last attempt. Do not include the password. For background, read how Cyberlop secures sessions and the glossary entry on brute force.
