Why can't Auto Generate from Repo fill the context for my black-box target?

Quick answer

Auto Generate from Repo fills the Application context fields by reading the target’s repository. A black-box target has no repository, so there is nothing to read. Fill the ten fields by hand, or create a white-box target with a repo URL if you own the code.

Why this happens

The button name says where it works from. Auto Generate from Repo reads the repository linked to the profile’s target and drafts the context from it. A black-box target has no repository, because that scan type tests the live URL only, and the form greys out its repo and branch fields. No repository means no source for the button to read.

How to fix it

  1. The button stays off on a new profile. Click Save, then open the profile again.
  2. Open the target. A black-box target shows "No repository configured" and an Ownership verification card.
  3. Go to Reporting → Application context and complete Overview, Tech stack, Frameworks and the other textareas by hand.
  4. Cover trust boundaries, tenancy model and business-critical flows. Skip anything you do not know.
  5. If you own the code, create a new target with a repo URL. You cannot edit a target, so you add a new one.

Black-box context still helps the scan. The ten fields are Overview, Tech stack, Frameworks, Sensitive data types, Trust boundaries, Tenancy model, Business-critical flows, Third-party integrations, Known endpoints and API spec reference. Cyberlop redacts detected PII in them before analysis.

Still not working?

If you do have a repo and the button stays off, the profile probably has not been saved yet. See why Auto Generate is greyed out and how white-box and black-box differ. The tutorial on application context shows each field. For anything else, use the contact page.
