Troubleshooting

Why is "Auto Generate from Repo" greyed out?

Quick answer

A new profile cannot use this button yet. Its tooltip says to save the profile first, then generate from its repo. Save the profile, open it again with Edit, and Auto Generate from Repo turns on. It reads the repository of the profile's target.

Why this happens

Look for ✦ Auto Generate from Repo at the top of Application context, in the Reporting section. On a new profile you will see it greyed out by design. A tooltip explains: "Save the profile first, then generate from its repo."

The reason is simple. A saved profile tells the button which target, and so which repository, to read.

How to fix it

  1. On the new profile, choose a Target and type a Name in Scope.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Open the profile again from the pencil icon on Scan Profiles, or from Edit on the target page, which gives you the same form with the Save step already done.
  4. Click Reporting in the switcher and scroll to Application context.
  5. Click ✦ Auto Generate from Repo, which is now enabled.
  6. Read what it fills in. It covers ten fields: Overview, Tech stack, Frameworks, Sensitive data types, Trust boundaries, Tenancy model, Business-critical flows, Third-party integrations, Known endpoints and API spec reference. Correct anything that is wrong, then click Save.

Still not working?

  • Confirm the profile saved. A red banner on the form means the save failed, and you are still on the "New scan profile" page.
  • Look at the target. One with no repository shows "No repository configured". Auto Generate reads the repo, so it has nothing to use there. Black-box targets have no repository at all.
  • Private repositories need a Git token for an allowed host. See why a private repo will not clone.

The app redacts detected PII in the context before it reaches the AI engine. If the button stays grey on a saved profile, contact us. For the fields themselves, read how to auto-generate the application context.
