How do I export my list of targets?

Quick answer

Open Targets and click Export CSV or Export JSON at the top right of the page. The file holds your target list. CSV opens in a spreadsheet, and JSON suits scripts. The API offers both and needs the target read permission.

Steps

  1. Click Targets in the sidebar.
  2. Look over the table first. It lists Name, Results, Tags, Creator and Environment for each target, so you know what to expect in the file.
  3. Click Export CSV or Export JSON. Both sit at the top right, beside + New target.
  4. Open the file and compare the row count with the table.

Good to know

An export is handy for an inventory, an audit or a spreadsheet of owners, and it takes a few seconds. CSV is the easy choice for people. JSON is better for code.

A matching API call exists: GET /api/export/targets, with ?format=json or ?format=csv. It needs the target:read permission. A related call, GET /api/targets, lists targets together with the latest scan result and the severity counts for each one, which saves you joining two files.

  • The capture does not include a sample file, so open yours and check the columns before you rely on them.
  • You get only the targets your role may read. A missing one points to access. Ask an admin to check.
  • A target never changes after you create it, so the name in an export is the name you first typed. To rename one, delete it and create it again.

For findings instead of targets, read how to export findings to CSV. For API use, see listing targets via the API. The export tutorial adds detail. Stuck? Contact us.
