Running scans

How do I see when a scan started and finished?

Quick answer

Read Started and Finished under Run details on the scan's Overview tab. The Recent Scans list shows the same times in its Initiated and Finished columns, in a short format like 1 Oct, 13:58, so you can compare runs.

Steps

Two places show the times, so use whichever is closer.

  1. Go to Recent Scans. Choose it in the sidebar.
  2. Read the list. Check Initiated and Finished.
  3. Click the row. Open the scan detail page.
  4. Open Overview. Find Run details.
  5. Compare times. Subtract to see how long it ran.

Good to know

The list gives a quick look at many runs. The detail page gives the same start and finish for one run, next to its status, trigger, location and cost.

A run still in progress has a start time but no finish time yet. A failed or cancelled run shows the time it stopped.

A typical scan of a small app takes roughly an hour. Larger apps take longer, and rate limits make a scan slower, never failed.

Reading the times

Times appear in a short format such as 1 Oct, 13:58. A scan that ran into the next day shows the later date in Finished. For schedules, the timezone is set in Settings → Organization, so check it there if a scheduled run starts at a surprising hour.

Both views read from the same run record, so they always agree, whichever one you choose to open first. Use the list when you compare many runs, and use the detail page when you want the times beside the cost and the status. Pick one.
