How do I search the activity feed for a person or action?
Quick answer
Open Activity and type in the search box, which reads Search by actor, action, or entity, and the list narrows as you type. Use a person's email, an action word such as Cancel or Triage, or an entity such as Scan or Role. The list narrows to matching entries.
Steps
- Click Activity in the sidebar.
- Click the search box at the top. Its hint reads Search by actor, action, or entity...
- Type a term. Try a person's email to see what that person did, or a word such as Cancel to find stopped scans.
- Read the matching entries. Each one shows the actor, the Action · Entity title, its detail chips, the time and a short id that you can compare with the item itself.
- Clear the box to return to the full feed.
Good to know
Each entry has three searchable parts. The actor is who did it. The action is what they did. The entity is what it was done to.
| To find | Try typing |
|---|---|
| One person's work | Their email |
| Stopped scans | Cancel |
| Deleted scans | Delete |
| Finding status changes | Triage |
| New accounts | Invite or Create |
| Role changes | Role |
- Search only reaches the entries your role lets you see. A tiered view can hide other people's entries, so an empty result may mean no access rather than no activity. See why you cannot see others' activity.
- Try one short word first. Add more words only if the list stays long.
- Automatic actions carry a system chip. Read what the system chip means.
