Scan profiles

Why can't I save a new profile without choosing a target?

Quick answer

Each profile belongs to exactly one target, so you cannot save without choosing one. Pick a target in the searchable picker, or start from the target page and click New profile, which preselects it. Once the profile exists, you cannot change that link.

Why this happens

On its own, a profile means little. It holds what to test, but the target holds where to test it: the URLs, the repository and the environment. Because the profile reads the target's URLs, Cyberlop needs the link before it can save. The form tells you: "The target this profile belongs to. Required."

The link is permanent. After you create the profile, you cannot move it to another target.

How to fix it

  1. Check that the target exists. Open Targets and look for it. If the list is empty, click + New target first.
  2. On the new profile form, click the Target field. A list opens with a search box that says "Search targets..."
  3. Type part of the name or URL and click the target. A check mark shows your choice.
  4. Fill in Name, for example "Full audit".
  5. Click Save.

Still not working?

When the picker stays empty, your account may have no access to any target, or no target may exist yet, so ask your administrator to check your role.

For a faster route next time, open the target, find Scan profiles and click + New profile. The target arrives already selected, and the URL carries the target ID. Read why the target picker is empty and why the profile target is read-only, or try our contact page.
