How do I create a profile that's already set to a specific target?

Quick answer

Open the target page, find the Scan profiles card and click + New profile. The new profile form opens with that target already selected, so you only name the profile, choose its scope and save. The target cannot be changed afterwards.

Starting from the target saves a step. The form address carries the target with it, so you never have to search the picker for it, which helps when your workspace holds many similarly named applications.

Steps

  1. Go to Targets and click the target you want.
  2. In the Scan profiles card, click + New profile. A full page opens with three sections: Scope, Authentication and Reporting.
  3. Check the Target picker, where your target already has a tick.
  4. Type a Name, for example "Full audit".
  5. Tick the Vulnerability classes you want, or leave all of them clear to cover every class. Keep Run exploitation phase ticked for live testing, or untick it for source analysis only.
  6. Add login roles under Authentication if the app needs them, then click Save.

Good to know

A line on the page explains that the profile scans its target's URLs, which you set on the target and not on the profile. After you save, the choice stays. On edit, the picker is read-only and carries the note "A profile's target is fixed after creation."

Use Preview YAML before saving to check the form. If the name is empty it reports that the name must contain at least one character. For more on each section, read why the target is read-only, or write to /contact.
