How do I scan a branch other than main?
Type the branch name in the Repo branch field when you create the target. It defaults to main. Targets cannot be edited afterwards, so to scan a different branch, create a new white-box target that names that branch and run a profile on it.
Cyberlop clones one branch for each target. You pick that branch in the Repo branch field of the new target dialog, and it starts as main.
Steps
- Go to Targets in the sidebar and click + New target.
- Enter a Name and the Main URL. A name that shows the branch, such as "Acme Web (release)", saves confusion later.
- Under Scan type, choose White-box.
- Type your HTTPS address in Repo URL (HTTPS).
- Change Repo branch from
mainto the branch you want, for examplerelease. - Choose an Environment and click Create target.
- Open the new target and click + New profile. Save the profile, then press ▷ Scan.
Good to know
Targets are immutable. You cannot edit the branch on a target that already exists. Create a second target for the second branch instead.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | Something that tells the two targets apart |
| Main URL | The running app that matches this branch, for example https://staging.example.com |
| Repo URL (HTTPS) | The same repository address as before |
| Repo branch | The branch to clone at launch |
Scans clone the latest code from the repository when they launch, so a new commit on that branch is picked up on the next scan. Deleting the old target also deletes its profiles, schedules, scans and findings, so keep it unless you are sure. Read what immutable means first.
