Why does a target show a dash in the Results column?

Quick answer

A dash in the Results column means the target has never been scanned, so there are no findings to count. Press Scan on the row or on one of its profiles. When the scan finishes, the coloured severity dots and their counts replace the dash.

Why this happens

The Results column summarises findings from scans, and with no scan there is nothing to summarise, so the cell shows a dash instead of a blank or a zero. The report icon in the Actions column behaves the same way, because it only appears on targets that have a completed scan.

How to fix it

  1. Find the target in Targets.
  2. Open it and look at the Scan profiles card. If it is empty, click + New profile, name the profile and save it.
  3. Press ▷ Scan on the row, or on the profile in the target page.
  4. Go to Recent Scans and watch the new run. A typical scan of a small app takes roughly an hour.
  5. Return to Targets and reload the page once the result reads Completed.

Severity dots then show up with a count for each level that has findings.

Still not working?

Check these points before you write to us.

  • The scan result in Recent Scans may be Failed or Cancelled. A failed scan can still hold the findings it found before it stopped.
  • A scan may still be running, in which case the dots appear once there is a result to count.
  • Your browser may hold an old copy of the list, so refresh the page.

If the dash stays after a completed scan, send us the target name and the scan time through /contact. Learn what the dots mean in the dots explainer.
