Go to Targets and click the red trash icon on the row of the target you want to remove. Deleting a target also deletes its scan profiles, schedules, scans and findings. You need the target delete permission, so ask an admin if the option is missing.
Deleting is permanent, and it spreads to everything attached to the target, so take a minute to save what you need before you start.
Steps
- If you still need the results, click the document icon on the row to download the latest PDF report. The icon shows only when the target has a completed scan.
- Click Targets in the sidebar.
- Find the row. The search box accepts a name, a URL or a tag.
- Click the red trash icon in the Actions column. Its tooltip warns that targets are immutable and that you must delete and recreate one to change its settings.
- Refresh the list and check that the row has gone.
Good to know
- A deleted target takes its profiles, schedules, scans and findings with it, and nothing in the captured app offers a way to bring them back.
- Deleting one scan from Recent Scans is different. It keeps the findings that belong to the target.
- The API route
DELETE /api/targets/:idneeds thetarget:deletepermission. The same permission applies in the app. - The Activity feed records target creates and deletes, so an admin can see who removed what.
A target has no edit option, so deletion is also how you fix a wrong URL or repository, and in that case you should create the target again straight afterwards and add a new profile. To pause scans for a while, you do not need to delete anything, because you can disable a schedule instead by unticking Enabled on it.
