Can I delete scans, targets and data whenever I want?
Yes. Administrators can delete scans, targets and data at any time, and Settings lets you choose how many days to retain data. Removing a scan keeps the findings of its target. Removing a target takes its profiles, schedules, scans and findings with it.
The short version
Your data stays under your control. You can set a retention period for scans, and anyone with the right permission can delete a scan, a target or related data whenever they choose.
| You delete | What also goes |
|---|---|
| A scan | The run itself; the findings of the target stay |
| A scan profile | Its schedules |
| A target | Its profiles, schedules, scans and findings |
How it works in Cyberlop
The Security page says retention is configurable in Settings and that administrators can delete scans, targets and data at any time. Under Settings, Organization, the Retention (days) field sets the period. The captured organisation used 365.
The API reference lists the delete calls and what each one removes. A scan delete keeps the target’s findings, because findings persist per target across scans. A profile delete removes its schedules. A target delete cascades to everything beneath it, so do that last and with care.
Each delete needs its own permission, such as scan:delete or profile:delete, so ask an administrator if a button is missing. The Activity feed records a Delete entry for scans and targets, which gives you a trail of who removed what.
A target is immutable. To change its details, delete it and create it again, which removes the history beneath it. Think before you do that.
