Troubleshooting

What does "name: String must contain at least 1 character(s)" mean?

Quick answer

The message means the profile's Name field is empty. Open the Scope section, type a name in the Name field, and click Preview YAML or Save again. The name only needs one character, but a clear one helps your team find the profile later.

Why this happens

Every scan profile needs a name before you can save or preview it, and that rule is checked as soon as you click the button. When you click Preview YAML with the name empty, Cyberlop checks the form first and shows a red banner: name: String must contain at least 1 character(s). The wording is the form's own check. It names the field, name, and the rule, at least one character.

Easy to miss: Name sits in the Scope section. You may be looking at Authentication or Reporting when you click the footer button, so the field is out of sight.

How to fix it

  1. Read the banner so you know which field failed. Here it is the name.
  2. Click Scope in the switcher on the left.
  3. Click the Name field. Its placeholder reads "Full audit".
  4. Type a name that tells your team what the profile does, such as "Quarterly full audit".
  5. Click Preview YAML to confirm the banner is gone, then click Save.

Still not working?

  • A name made only of spaces may still count as empty. Type real letters.
  • The banner names one field at a time. After you fix the name, a different message can appear. Fix that field the same way.
  • Check that you chose a Target. Its help text calls the target required.

If the message stays after you have typed a name, contact us and tell us which page you were on. To see how the preview works, read how to preview the profile YAML. For the full form, see how to create a scan profile.
