How do I assign a target to a team?

Quick answer

Type a team name into the optional Team field of the New target dialog, for example Platform. It is a free-text box, not a list. The value cannot be edited later, so delete and recreate the target if it is wrong.

Steps

  1. Go to Targets and click + New target.
  2. Fill in the name, Main URL, scan type and environment.
  3. Find the Team field. It is the last field in the dialog.
  4. Type the team name. The placeholder shows "Platform".
  5. Click Create target.

Good to know

  • Team is a plain text field. It does not offer a drop-down of existing teams, so spell the name the same way each time.
  • The field is optional. A target without a team shows a dash in the Team row of Target details.
  • Targets are immutable. To change the team, delete the target and create it again. That removes its profiles, schedules, scans and findings, so export them first.
  • Teams are managed by admins in Administration. That area is not covered in the public documentation, so ask your admin how team names there relate to this field.
  • The Security page says the Activity feed is organisation-wide for administrators, team-scoped for team leads and limited to your own actions for everyone else.

If you only want to group work, use tags and groups. Tags label scan profiles. Groups collect profiles by hand or by tag. Neither one changes the team on a target.

Agree on the spelling with your colleagues before you start, since a free-text field will happily accept three versions of the same team. A short note in your internal wiki is enough to keep names uniform.
