Running scans

Why can't I search Recent Scans by the person who ran them?

Quick answer

The Recent Scans search box covers target and profile only, so it cannot filter by the person who ran a scan. Read the Run by column in the table instead, or search the Activity feed by actor, which does support names.

Why this happens

The scans table has a Run by column, but the search box is labelled for target or profile. So typing a name will not match. The table is small enough to scan by eye in most workspaces, and sorting is newest first.

How to fix it

  1. Type in Search scans by target or profile... to narrow the list first.
  2. Each row shows the email of the person who started the scan.
  3. A scan run by support staff shows the support name, a dot and an email.
  4. Open Activity and type the person in Search by actor, action, or entity....
  5. Admins see the whole organisation, team leads see their team, and others see their own actions.

The Activity feed records scan starts, cancels and deletes, with the actor named on each row. It is the better place to answer "who ran or cancelled this?" The Security page says its visibility is tiered by role.

Still not working?

If a name you expect is missing from Activity, your tier may not show that person’s actions. Ask an admin. Related articles: how to see who ran a scan, how to search the Activity feed and the visibility tiers. You can also ask us through the contact page.
