How do I turn a schedule off without deleting it?

Quick answer

Untick the Enabled box when you create a schedule, and the app keeps it without running it. For an existing schedule, the capture did not show an edit control, but the API has an update route, PUT /api/schedules/:id, so an admin can switch it off.

Steps

  1. Open Scheduled Scans in the sidebar.
  2. To save a new schedule in a paused state, click + New schedule and fill in the profile, frequency and start.
  3. Clear the Enabled box, which starts out ticked.
  4. Click Create schedule. It now exists, but it stays idle until someone switches it on.
  5. For a schedule that already exists, use the update route PUT /api/schedules/:id. It needs the schedule:update permission.

Good to know

The schedule list had no rows when the app was captured, so the controls on an existing row were never seen. I will not guess at button names. If you cannot find a way to switch a schedule off in your account, contact us and we will point you to it.

Pausing keeps the schedule with its profile, frequency and start time, so you can turn it back on later, while deleting removes it for good. When in doubt, pause first.

The API Reference lists four schedule routes: list, create, update and delete. Each shows the permission it needs, such as schedule:read or schedule:update. Use the filter box and type schedules to see them.

Pausing is handy during a freeze, a migration or an outage. For removal, see how to delete a schedule. To change a start time, see whether you can change a schedule after creating it.
