Why did I get two emails about the same scan?

Quick answer

My Account has two email options: one when a scan you started finishes, and one when a scan finds critical or high issues. A scan that finishes with critical or high findings matches both, so you get two emails. Untick one of the boxes to stop the duplicate.

Why this happens

The two options are separate alerts. A scan that finishes always matches the first. If it also finds critical or high issues, it matches the second too. Each match sends its own email, so one scan can send two.

How to fix it

  1. Click My Account in the sidebar and find the Email notifications card.
  2. One box says "When a scan I started finishes". The other says "When a scan finds critical or high issues".
  3. If the finish email is enough, untick the critical or high box. If you only care about serious findings, untick the finish box.
  4. The card says where the mail goes: "Sent to" your account email.
  5. If a chat message also arrives, that comes from the webhook in Settings → Notifications, not from email.

The critical or high option covers your own scans. For a SuperAdmin it covers all scans, so admins can receive more mail than other users. You can only change your own boxes, because they live on your personal page.

Still not working?

Both boxes are ticked by default in the capture, so a new account will see the pair. If you get more than two emails for one scan, check that the other mails are not from teammates who started or share the run, and compare the sender and subject. The chat webhook posts only the target name, finding counts and a link, never the findings. For more detail read the email notification types and what to do when emails do not arrive. Still odd? Send the two subject lines through the contact page.
